Mercury was the only album by melodic British alternative rock band Longview. The band's career revolved around one song, Further, which despite huge acclaim and a multitude of reissues failed to break Longview. This is an excellent album, full of powerful rock melodies underpinning Rob McVey's melancholic vocals, however they failed to better it and after a contractual name change to Long-View. the band quickly began to fade from the attentions of a fickle public. Live, they were powerful and built up a considerable following but they just couldn't better Mercury and before you knew it ....Longview were gone.

Lovers of sad & melancholic yet beautiful indie rock need to listen to If You Asked and I Would.
