Michael Mann's movies rank among my favourites from modern cinema - the soundtracks are fairly iconic as well, who can forget his use of the eerie side of Shriekback during Manhunter. The combination of Mann, Pacino and De Niro makes this film one of the best of the nineties decade and with a soundtrack which includes Brian Eno, Lisa Gerrard and Einstürzende Neubauten, it is rather special in my book.

For me the best musical moments are the bank robbery scene using Brian Eno's Force Marker and the helicopter chase down the freeway to LAX with Moby's interpretation of New Dawn Fades. Any Lisa Gerrard composition used on a soundtrack just sounds amazing. Another musical highlight is Michael Brook's enigmatic Ultramarine laden with John Martyn guitar references.
