X-TG - Desertshore/The Final Report [IR 2012CD UK 2012 FLAC]

I have recently finished reading the Cosey Fanni Tutti biography, it is a fascinating insight into her life as member of COUM and Throbbing Gristle, plus it also covers, in depth, her work in the UK porn industry. Keeping in mind that this is her side of a two-sided story, I was never aware of the controlling nature of her former lover Neil Megson (aka Gen) and his behavior towards her & the other former members of Throbbing Gristle. If you haven't read the book then I won't spoil the story here, however Desertshore (a reinterpretation of the Nico album) was planned as a Throbbing Gristle project. You'll never guess who didn't turn up?

The sessions were completely re-recorded with a batch of new guest vocalists including Marc Almond, Blixa Bargeld and Sasha Grey. The opening Janitor Of Lunacy featuring the voice of Antony (him of The Johnsons) is breathtaking and sets the scene perfectly for the album that follows.

Sadly Peter Christopherson died during the recording of this album and consequently this album is dedicated to his memory. The second disc, The Final Report, finally closes the book on Throbbing Gristle.

  2. I wonder why they didn't package the Faet Narok tracks with this and make it a three disc set? Faet Narok is darker and a great listen. Seems like there are some folks that don't even know it exists.

Thanks AW for mentioning the FN recording, I was not aware of it certainly and will look around for it.
    Kudos, Blogmeister.

  4. Actually แฝดนรก (Faet Narok) _did_ come packed with the Desertshore/The Final Report double album, but only as a digital addition to the two vinyl LPs...
